The Boston Redevelopment Authority and Department of Neighborhood Development designated New Atlantic Development Corp. to develop the Harrison Avenue block between East Brookline and East Newton Streets. The Bates Arts Resource Center occupies a former school building in the middle of the site. Two new condominium buildings will be constructed on either side with 26 of the condominiums available as affordable live/work lofts for artists. The remaining units will be sold at market rate.

The Bates building will be refurbished and, as an additional amenity, one of the new buildings will house a gallery on the first floor for displaying local artists’ works.

PCI has partnered with Wainwright Bank and the City to provide construction financing for ArtBlock.
